We invite you to volunteer to feed those in need!

We have four locations in the Houston-area where volunteers are needed on Wednesday, November 27th & Thursday, November 28th!

November 27th - "Turkey Tailgate" takes place the day before Thanksgiving when we prep the food.

November 28th - "Thanksgiving" morning is when we the the meal boxes and deliver them out to the community.

Operation Turkey's mission is eradicating hunger, one meal at a time!

Operation Turkey Houston volunteers will prepare and deliver 12,500 meals to the less fortunate in the Houston area. In only 2 days, hundreds of volunteers will prepare, portion, package and deliver Thanksgiving meals comprised of over 600 smoked turkeys and mass quantities of mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, corn and pumpkin pie.

The Rotary Club of Greater Houston Veterans has been the driving force behind Operation Turkey in the Houston metropolitan area since Thanksgiving 2020. This project has now gone district-wide and other Rotary clubs are participating by becoming sponsors and volunteering.

HOUSTON: VOLUNTEER ORIENTATIONS

Each year, in-person and/or virtual meetings will be set up to teach new volunteers how Operation Turkey works and give them a chance to talk with their city & site leaders. Make sure you have joined our volunteer network so you will receive an email with orientation details. Virtual meetings will be recorded.

HOUSTON: "TURKEY TAILGATE" ON NOVEMBER 27, 2024

The Turkey Tailgate takes place the day before Thanksgiving. This is a necessary preparation day where volunteers come together to cook turkeys, sort toiletry & clothing donations, gather any last minute supplies, and get everything ready for an early start the next day. For the Turkey Tailgate our biggest needs are smokers and Pitmasters to help us get all the turkeys cooked. Learn More.

It's Thanksgiving Day! This is our main event where we build the meals and deliver them out to the community. Volunteers of all ages come together at a location and step into various roles including setup, cooking, plating, packaging, delivering, and more. Learn More
